Trip interruption insurance

As the morning mist lifts between the peaks of the Andes, the sun bathes the ancient Inca city of Maccu Picchu in a magical glow. It would be a magnificent view, if only this text message weren't on your screen: House broken into, jewellery gone, please come back asap, love Sabine. The only positive in this emergency is our trip interruption insurance, which insures you against unforeseen events while travelling. If you have to interrupt, cut short or extend your trip, the insurance covers the costs of the remainder of your trip and the additional costs of returning home and accommodation.

Trip interruption insurance covers unused travel and accommodation services, costs of unused activities and the additional costs of the return trip and accommodation if the trip has to be interrupted, cut short or extended for the following reasons:

  • Serious illness, accident or death of the insured person or a close relative
  • Break-in or damage at home
  • Travel warning by the FDFA
  • Complications of pregnancy
  • Unrest, natural disasters and epidemics
  • Theft of travel documents while travelling
  • Delay or cancellation of public transport, e.g. due to strike

The cardholder, spouse or partner as well as dependant children up to the age of 25 living in the same household benefit from the insurance cover.

The following maximum sums insured apply:

  • CHF 7,500 per card and year: World Mastercard Flex Silver (credit option), World Mastercard Silver, Visa Classic and Visa GKB HCD Card
  • CHF 15,000 per card and year: World Mastercard Flex Gold (credit option), World Mastercard Gold, Visa Gold and Flying Blue World Mastercard

 There is no excess.

To take advantage of the insurance cover, the following conditions must be met:

  • An insured event occurs
  • Your trip is private in nature and lasts no more than 45 days
  • At least 60% of the trip was paid for with a valid World MasterCard Silver, Visa Classic, Visa GKB HCD Card, World Mastercard Gold, Visa Gold or Flying Blue World Mastercard
  • You have contacted the insurer immediately
