Trip cancellation insurance

Your tour of North America has been firmly booked for six months now, and your anticipation is growing with every passing day. But one week before you’re due to depart, the unthinkable happens: Your younger son falls out of a tree while playing and suffers a complicated leg fracture. The surgery goes well, but the consequences are major: The family trip will have to wait. The blessing in disguise here is trip cancellation insurance, which automatically protects you against unforeseen circumstances prior to your trip. So, you will at least get your cancellation costs back.

You’ve been looking forward to your vacation, but shortly before you’re due to depart an emergency occurs making it impossible for you to leave as planned? With trip cancellation insurance, you are insured before the trip against unforeseen events such as illness, accidents or death (including those involving related persons or persons travelling with you). If you are unable to start your trip or can only start later, you will be reimbursed for the cancellation or rebooking costs.

The insurance covers the cardholder (primary, second, additional and partner cards), their spouse or partner living in the same household and children under the age of 25 who are entitled to support, provided they live in the same household or are resident in Switzerland.

The following prerequisites must be met for the insurance to provide cover:

  • The trip is cancelled or commenced later due to an insured event.
  • The trip is a private trip lasting no more than 90 days (duration of trip unlimited for Visa Platinum).
  • At least 60% of the travel costs were paid for with a Viseca credit card or, as a mandatory requirement, with the credit function of a combined payment card.

The following maximum insured sums apply per event:

  • CHF 10 000: World Mastercard Silver, Visa Classic  and Visa GKB HCD Card.
  • CHF 20 000: World Mastercard Gold, Visa Gold and Flying Blue World Mastercard.
  • CHF 40 000: Visa Platinum

There is no policy excess.

The insurance is included in the annual fee for your Viseca card and does not cause any additional costs.
