The following conditions must be met in order for insurance cover to be provided:

  • The trip is cancelled or delayed due to an insured event. 
  • The duration of the business trip is no longer than 120 days.
  • At least 50% of the travel costs were paid for using a Viseca Commercial Gold credit card.

The following maximum insured amount applies per event and per person:

  • CHF 10,000: Mastercard Commercial Card Gold

No excess applies.

  • If a business meeting that was the main reason for the trip has to be cancelled or rescheduled.

A business trip is classed as a temporary absence from a place of residence or work, lasting no longer than 120 calendar days, for work-related reasons, excluding the commute to or from work. This includes a maximum of 14 days off or public holidays, at the very beginning, during or at the end of the business trip.

A related person is classed as:

  • Spouse or partners, including their parents and children
  • Parents
  • Children, foster children and adopted children
  • Siblings
  • Parents-in-law, children-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren of the insured person

Related persons are not insured persons and therefore do not benefit from the insurance cover. However, if a trip has to be cancelled or interrupted due to an accident or severe illness suffered by a related person, this is an insured event.

Means of conveyance that operate according to a regular schedule and which require a ticket to be used. Private and business jets that require confirmation of booking are covered. Taxis and hired cars are not classed as public transport.

If hospital admission is required (at least one night), if a drug that is prescription-only in Switzerland must be prescribed by the doctor in the course of treatment, if the doctor declares a person unfit for work for five or more days or if written evidence of unfitness to travel is provided.

Cancellation and rebooking costs are costs charged by the operator if a trip that has been booked must be cancelled or rescheduled to a later date.

The following are excluded from the insurance cover, among other things:

  • The sickness or accident events had already occurred at the time of booking or departure on the trip or it was obvious that they would occur.

On the claims form, list all the items (number of bags and their contents) alongside their respective purchase price that have been affected by theft, loss or damage. Attach all purchase receipts to the claim documents.

To confirm a refund, the insurer always needs all purchase receipts as proof of the purchase of the item in question. For this reason, please keep your receipts safe. If you no longer have it, request a copy of the receipt from the place of purchase. Unfortunately, the insurer will not be able to provide its benefits without it.

No, the insurance does not cover theft from a private or hired vehicle.

No, the insurance does not cover losses arising from the fact that items were forgotten, left unattended or misplaced. Please also note that watches and jewellery are excluded from the insurance cover.

  • The insured device has an expired manufacturer warranty or retailer warranty.
  • The insured device is intended for business purposes.
  • The insured device was bought from a retailer whose registered office is in Switzerland or an EU/EEA country.
  • The value of the item is at least CHF 100.

The following maximum insured amounts apply per event:

  • CHF 2,000 (12-month extended warranty): Mastercard Commercial Card Silver
  • CHF 5,000 (24-month extended warranty): Mastercard Commercial Card Gold

The insurance covers the safeguarding of legal interests in the following areas of law:

  • Contract law: Disputes as the lessee of a vehicle, arising from contracts of transport and carriage, arising from repair contracts of the vehicle driven by the insured person during the trip, and arising from package travel contracts, accommodation contracts and guest contracts.
  • Compensation law: Asserting statutory, non-contractual liability claims, provided no contractual relationship exists under private or public law. 
  • Criminal law: Defence in criminal proceedings against the insured person based on an accusation of negligent violation of statutory provisions of the Swiss Criminal Code or Swiss Road Traffic Act. 
  • Insurance law: Disputes involving insurance policies under private or public law.
  • Victim support law: Claiming compensation and damages under the Swiss Victim Support Act.

A business trip is classed as a temporary absence from a place of residence or work, lasting no longer than 120 calendar days, for work-related reasons, excluding the commute to or from work. This includes a maximum of 14 days off or public holidays, at the very beginning, during or at the end of the business trip.

Means of conveyance that operate according to a regular schedule and which require a ticket to be used. Private and business jets that require confirmation of booking are covered. Taxis and hired cars are not classed as public transport.
