The insurance covers the cardholder (primary, second, additional and partner cards), their spouse or partner living in the same household and children under the age of 25 who are entitled to support, provided they live in the same household or are resident in Switzerland.

The following maximum insured sum applies per event and per person:

• CHF 5 000: World Mastercard Silver, Visa Classic and Visa GKB HCD Card.
• CHF 10 000: World Mastercard Gold, Visa Gold and Flying Blue World Mastercard.
• CHF 20 000: Visa Platinum.

There is no policy excess.

The insurance covers transactions performed by unknown third parties through misuse 

• in connection with a private Swiss account,
• a mobile device or 
• a card (virtual or physical)

Misuse is when the third party was neither entitled to perform the action nor commissioned or authorised to do so by the insured person.

Exclusions from the insurance cover include the following:

• The insured person has allowed the time period for reviewing and identifying an unauthorised payment to lapse without taking any action during that time.
• Damage resulting from failure by the insured person to notify the relevant company (e.g. credit card issuer, bank) immediately.
• Losses arising indirectly from misuse, e.g. lost profit or loss of interest.
• Losses for which a liable company (account-holding financial institution, card contracting partner or network provider) has not abrogated liability in writing.
• Damage arising as a result of cards, mobile devices, identification or legitimation data, etc. being stolen or coming into the possession of, or to the knowledge of, a third party prior to the inception of insurance cover.

In the event of a claim, you are obliged to limit the damage or loss as much as possible. Please inform the police and the relevant financial institution immediately. Obtain a police report and a written declaration on compensation for financial losses from the financial institution concerned.

Send the claim form and the following documents to the insurer as soon as possible:

• Police report 
• Evidence of compensation from the financial institution concerned
• Account/card statements showing the improper charges
