Trip interruption insurance

The morning mist is lifting between the peaks of the Andes, and the sun is bathing the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in a magical glow. It would be a magnificent spectacle were it not for this SMS on your display: House burgled, jewellery gone, please come ASAP, Love Sabine. The only positive thing in this emergency is our trip interruption insurance, which insures you against unforeseen circumstances during your trip. If you need to shorten, interrupt or extend your trip, the insurance will reimburse you for the costs of the rest of your trip as well as the additional costs incurred for return travel and accommodation.

What if you have to shorten, interrupt or extend your trip? With trip interruption insurance, you are insured against unforeseen events such as illness, accidents or death during the trip (including those involving related persons or persons travelling with you). The insurance reimburses you for the costs of the unused part of your trip as well as additional return trip and accommodation costs.

The insurance covers the cardholder (primary, second, additional and partner cards), their spouse or partner or registered partner living in the same household and children under the age of 25 who are entitled to support, provided they live in the same household or are resident in Switzerland.

The following prerequisites must be met for the insurance to provide cover:

  • The trip is cancelled or commenced later or is interrupted or abandoned due to an insured event.
  • The trip is a private trip lasting no more than 90 days.
  • At least 60% of the travel costs were paid for with a Viseca credit card or, as a mandatory requirement, with the credit function of a combined payment card.

The following maximum insured sums apply per event:

  • CHF 7 500: World Mastercard Silver, Visa Classic, World Mastercard Flex Silver (credit function) and Visa GKB HCD Card.
  • CHF 15 000: World Mastercard Gold, Visa Gold, World Mastercard Flex Gold (credit function) and Flying Blue World Mastercard.


There is no policy excess.
