You’re thrilled with the digital camera you just bought yourself. Excited to try it out, you accidentally drop it and it breaks. No problem! If your purchases are worth at least CHF 50, they are insured for 30 days after purchase against theft or damage.

The following prerequisites must be met for the insurance to provide cover:

• Within 30 days of the purchase, the insured item has been stolen, destroyed or damaged or, in the case of an online purchase, either delivered incorrectly or not delivered at all or not accepted if it has been returned.
• At least 60% of the price of the insured item was paid with a Viseca credit card.
• The insured item is intended for private purposes.
• The value of the item is at least CHF 50.

The following maximum insured sum applies per event:

• CHF 1 000: World Mastercard Silver, Visa Classic and Visa GKB HCD Card.
• CHF 2 000: World Mastercard Gold, Visa Gold and Flying Blue World Mastercard.
• CHF 5 000: Visa Platinum.

There is no policy excess.

The insurance covers robbery (theft with the threat or use of violence against the insured person), theft, destruction or damage, non-delivery or incorrect delivery in the case of online purchases, and non-acceptance of returns in the case of online purchases in respect of an insured item.

Restrictions on insurance coverage include, but are not limited to:

• Cash, checks, traveler's checks, all other securities and tickets.
• Animals and plants as well as motor vehicles.
• Consumer goods and perishable goods with a limited life, e.g. foodstuffs, luxury foodstuffs, cosmetics, etc.
• Jewelry and watches.
• Second-hand goods.
• Normal wear and tear.
• Manufacturing or material defects.
• Operator error.

Please report any theft immediately to the local police and have a police report drawn up. Please also keep damaged items available until the claim is settled.

Send the claim form and the following documents to the insurer as soon as possible:

• List of the affected items with purchase receipts
• Repair invoice or confirmation of total loss
• The vendor’s response to the refund request
• Police report

No. To benefit from insurance cover, you must use a valid Viseca credit card or, as a mandatory requirement, the credit function of a valid combined payment card to pay for at least 60% of the travel costs, item, device or ticket.

Yes, if you accidentally drop an item on the floor, it is covered for the first 30 days from purchase. The insurance does not cover wilful destruction.
